You don't need to know everything

You don’t need to master the entire Cloud/DevOps stack to land your first role.

When I started learning Cloud, I thought I had to know:

☁️ Every AWS service
☁️ Every IaC tool
☁️ Every CI/CD platform
☁️ Every Kubernetes detail

I wasted so much time trying to learn everything. But then I realised something:

I already had a solid foundation as an on-prem engineer. I just needed to pivot my focus.

Here’s what actually helped me land an entry-level role in Cloud/DevOps:

Deep understanding of cloud networking
Comfort with Linux fundamentals
Learning Terraform properly
Knowing core cloud services: compute, storage, IAM, security, databases
Learning to build & troubleshoot simple CI/CD pipelines (build, test, deploy)

If I were a hiring manager, I wouldn’t expect juniors to know everything.

But if someone can:

1️⃣ Talk through real-world cloud architecture
2️⃣ Write and explain Terraform code
3️⃣ Build basic CI/CD pipelines and explain the flow

…that’s more than enough for an entry-level role.

Stop chasing every buzzword. Start building real, foundational skills.

That’s what will get you hired.
